Middle Students
Magnet Progression Policy

The East Baton Rouge Parish School Board approved a progression policy in 2004 that allows students enrolled in a dedicated magnet school to progress to the next magnet school level if they apply and qualify. Therefore, the Office of Magnet Programs will give priority to applicants from the following elementary magnets in its progression policy: Baton Rouge Center, Baton Rouge Foreign Language Academic Immersion , Forest Heights Academy, Mayfair Lab, and Westdale Heights. The priority also includes students enrolled in the Montessori program at Belfair and enrolled in either The Dufrocq School's Montessori or Academic magnet programs.

Students who attend these elementary magnets will receive priority admission into Istrouma Middle, McKinley Middle, Scotlandville Middle, Sherwood Middle and Westdale Middle (students enrolled in immersion component) if they apply and meet the academic and/or program eligibility requirements.

At the middle school level, magnet students from Istrouma, McKinley, Scotlandville Middle , Sherwood Middle and Westdale Middle (the immersion program only) will receive priority admission into Baton Rouge Magnet High, if they apply and meet the academic eligibility requirements.
