Grades: A cumulative 2.50 grade point average (GPA) based on the last four (4) consecutive semesters

Test scores: Perform on a level of Basic or above on LEAP 2025 or the equivalent on a norm-referenced assessment in both ELA and math

Sports Medicine

The Sports Medicine Program at Glen Oaks High is designed for students interested in fields such as athletic training, physical therapy, medicine, fitness, physiology of exercise, Kinesiology, nutrition, and other sports medicine related fields. The program will focus on providing an educational experience that combines rigorous classroom instruction and hands-on practical experiences. The Sports Medicine curriculum will introduce students to legal responsibilities, prevention of athletic injuries, environmental concerns, pharmacology, rehabilitation and management skills, general fitness, nutrition, sports psychology, human anatomy, and including but not limited to physiology related concepts.  As a result, students will graduate from this program with the necessary skills and knowledge to prepare them for a post-secondary education.

Radio Broadcasting

Glen Oaks Radio Broadcasting Program’s comprehensive curriculum is designed to supports students’ interests in becoming 21st-century broadcasting professionals. Through the broadcasting program students will learn a multitude of skills such as: effective communication, professionalism and ethics in broadcasting, commercial and news writing, recording and editing, conducting interviews, and ultimately hosting a live Radio Show.  Our goal is to provide students with a thorough, well-rounded broadcasting education that will create a foundation that supports future endeavors in becoming a radio DJ, news anchor, producer, studio engineer, news writer, sports director, music director, and news director.

Health Sciences

The innovative four-year program at Glen Oaks Medical Magnet is for students who demonstrate a special interest in the medical and health careers.

​

This comprehensive program is designed to effectively combine academic skills, theoretical training and practical experience in the medical and healthcare fields. These factors enables students to enter the world of work immediately after graduation better prepared for advanced studies at the college or post-secondary level.

​

Students enrolled in the medical and health career program are encouraged to pursue academic courses that will complement units of study in the medical field. By design, the medical health careers curriculum is multi-faceted career track designed to provide students the opportunity to explore various health careers and make meaningful career choices.

​

Through cooperative work experiences, students can actually "try out" a career before making a long-term commitment. Students have the opportunities to apply theoretical and classroom experience in medical facilities throughout Baton Rouge.

​
