Grades

Program Eligibility

6-8

Grades: A cumulative 2.50 grade point average (GPA) based on the last four (4) consecutive semesters

Test scores: Perform on a level of Basic or above on LEAP 2025 or the equivalent on a norm-referenced assessment in both ELA and math

Southeast Middle Magnet School offers digital arts to students in grades 6 through 8, a program is for students interested in video editing, digital photography, digital graphics, computer programming and other careers in technology in the digital arts.  The program is designed to help students develop advanced computer application skills using  iMovie to create digital videos using  non-linear video editing techniques.  In addition, students will learn how to use Adobe's popular photo editing program, Photoshop, to create stunning visual effects.  Students will also learn basic coding that will prepare them for computer science at the high school level.

Classes are taught in designated rooms equipped with Apple televisions to provide an advantageous alternative to learning rather than using whiteboards. To help create a dynamic  and interactive learning environment, students will have access to iPads and other mobile hardware.

​

Southeast has the latest video broadcasting and screen printing equipment which gives them the advantage for learning with hands-on training  to prepare them for high school and career readiness programs.
